INTERIOR DESIGN/ARCHITECTURAL INTERN

POSITION SUMMARY

Apex Design Build is a commercial design build firm, specializing in private healthcare practices. Following design build methodology, we manage projects from early visioning and conceptual design stages, all the way through the architectural and construction phases.

We are currently seeking a dynamic INTERIOR DESIGN/ ARCHITECTURAL INTERN to support our rapidly growing organization. The interior design/architectural intern will assist the design and architectural teams in all aspects of the project from the early design through to final project closeout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform design duties as directed by the Team Leader.
  • Collaborate with other Team Leaders as needed.
  • Assist with updating and organizing the materials library.
  • Assist in material and project research as required for project development.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations.
  • Support multi-disciplinary team in developing designs, schematic sketches/diagrams, and documentation drawings. Participate in the review of construction phase documentation.
  • Make updates and changes to existing drawings or designs using Revit.
  • Attend in-house project team meetings.
  • Perform administrative support and other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Interior Design or similar program OR Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree program in Architecture or Engineering; NAAB accredited program highly preferred.
  • Minimum 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and details.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and a drive to excel.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

POSITION SUMMARY

Apex Design Build is a design build firm, specializing in private healthcare practices. Following design build methodology, we manage projects from early visioning and conceptual design stages, all the way through the architectural and construction phases. As a fully integrated firm, our successful Architecture group will work alongside the Apex Interior Design and Preconstruction teams.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Architectural Designer to support our rapidly growing organization. This role will work through complex projects in detailing and documenting intent as well as provide direct support to Apex’s Director of Architecture and Director of Design. You will be involved in many aspects of the project from the design development phase, permitting, construction documents, and bidding stages through to final project closeout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup and maintain project drawing files and standards (Revit).
  • Develop and complete construction & permit drawings.
  • Develop progress drawings for client review, pricing, or internal technical review.
  • Research available architectural and MEP products to fit with design intent.
  • Assist with/lead permit drawing comment response.
  • Assist with/lead construction document addenda based on subcontractor/Operations team direct input.
  • Support Director of Architecture correspondence with consultants, subcontractors and vendors to gather data, communicate design requirements, and coordinate design, construction, and engineering documents.
  • Attend internal handover meetings from Design to Architecture, and from Architecture to Operations team.
  • Able to produce a full, coordinated set of CDs including Cover, Life Safety, Demolition, Architectural, FFE, Details, Schedules, and willing to learn basic MEP trades.
  • Interface with Apex’s design team for clarification of design details and intent as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and scope of work.
  • Coordinate and update selected project materials, products, and fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Architecture firm or related office required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit or strong desire to learn required.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

PROJECT DESIGNER

POSITION SUMMARY

We are in the process of establishing local market leadership and then scaling regionally.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Project Designer to support our rapidly growing organization. The Project Designer will help direct projects through conceptual design, design development, and participate as required through the architectural and construction phases, striving to achieve the Clients’ objectives. Responsibilities will include programming, conceptual design, design development, construction documents, furniture specification, and verification of design intent during project execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate and lead in client consultations; establishing project goals and objectives including but not limited to programming questionnaire, design intent, schedule, and budget parameters.
  • Positively work with team members and vendors offering creative input throughout project, including but not limited to construction documents, take offs, millwork drawings, punch list review, engineering documents, existing conditions surveys, and attend job site meetings as needed.
  • Develop designs, including but not limited to test fits, space planning, schematic design, a color palette, conceptual sketches, conceptual ceiling and lighting plans, elevations, initial furniture and lighting inspirations, furniture and accessory specifications, and 3D Revit views.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

We are in the process of establishing local market leadership and then scaling regionally.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Project Coordinator to support our rapidly growing organization. The Project Coordinator will act as a liaison between Apex and its subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, and provide direct support to Apex’s Project Managers, Superintendents, and Director of Construction. Project Coordinators are involved from the Architectural drawings phase through to the completion of the projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect COI’s with Additional Insured’s from subcontractors and Apex and file with city/town and building
    management.
  • Insure that all Subcontractor applications, insurances, and names are properly updated with the City or
    Local Town after buyout is completed by Project Managers.
  • Assist with permit application paperwork, as needed.
  • Ensure that safety binders and most current set of architectural drawings are up to date.
  • Assist Project Managers with pre-bid qualification, RFQ’s, subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
  • Research and vet new subcontractors as needed.
  • Perform scheduled follow up to insure bids are submitted in a timely fashion. Insure Bids are uploaded to
    Box and Paskr.
  • Schedule a Pre-construction meeting onsite with PM, awarded subcontractors and building manager.
  • Order materials and make sure that subcontractors who are responsible to order materials have done so.
  • Receive, sign off, and track all materials delivered to the office in Smartsheet.
  • Receive 3-week look ahead schedules from Superintendents, log them in Smartsheet, review with
    Director of Construction, and then send them out on a weekly basis.
  • Insure that photos of projects are being uploaded each week from every active project on Paskr.
  • Assist with subcontractor RFI process including follow up and responses.
  • Assist Project Managers with monthly construction draw requests and payouts for projects. Work with
    accounting to request all partial and final lien waivers, and track subcontractor and vendor payments and
    account balances. Assist accounting with preparation of AIA G702 & G703 Contractors Application for
    Payment, Sworn Statements and Lien Waivers on a monthly basis.
  • Assist Project Managers with project closeout documentation. Compile closeout binders promptly upon
    completion of each project.
  • Assist Director of Construction with implementation of Safety Program initiatives, including follow up for
    MSDS sheets, and weekly tool box talks.
  • Attend internal meetings such as Handover to Ops, Monthly Financial Review Meetings, Safety Meetings,
    and Jobsite Milestone Meetings. Keep meeting minutes and distribute as needed.
  • Insure that Smartsheet is being kept up to date by Project Managers.
  • Coordinate and pick up prints as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous work experience in related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to lift 20+ lbs.

ASSISTANT PRECONSTRUCTION MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY

We are in the process of establishing local market leadership and then scaling regionally.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Preconstruction Manager to support our rapidly growing organization. The Assistant Preconstruction Manager will act as a liaison between Apex and its clients, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, and provide direct support to Apex’s Director of Preconstruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a scope of work during the concept phase of design that reflects the Visioning Session notes, Space plan intent, and is sufficient for estimating and subcontractor purchasing selection.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop space plans that are responsive to and conform to program and budget requirements.
  • Assist managing budget throughout the design process by soliciting input from subcontractors and engineers and estimating the project to ensure design is managed to the budget, overall profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with Project Coordinator initial site survey.
  • Assist Director of Preconstruction with building budget cost reports, LOIs and contracts in the APEX formats.
  • Create an overarching project timeline including all phases of the project and maintain constant correspondence through the project to insure completion dates are adhered to.
  • Research and incorporate products and systems that accomplish the design intent.
  • Support Director of Preconstruction with reviewing and redlining architectural and construction documents and specifications to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Review and redline production shop drawings for furniture, millwork and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
